Loudspeakers

VMPS loudspeakers are no longer in production or available for sale.

VMPS design philosophy covers what many experienced listeners desire searching for a high-fidelity loudspeaker. Reproduction must cover a whole spectrum to achieve natural balance. Dynamics and loudness capabilities must be suited to every kind of music, not just particular part or sort of it. Drivers and other parts used must be best available - mostly are produced in the house to meet our high requirements. Cabinets should be of reasonable size and cost, but best quality.

Outcoming result must suit best to the human ear accustomed to live music, not primarily to the measuring equipment or some audio-critics approval. Also, VMPS concept requires that loudspeaker can adapt well to a wide variety of rooms through built-in level controls and adjustable passive radiators. Overall price is realistic and very low compared to competition.

Zero amount of money is spent on any kind of frills - at VMPS loudspeakers, performance has every priority.

Upgrades & Options are listed below.

RM50
"While these speakers are huge, they are sonically invisible.
Certainly, these are the best VMPS speakers yet devised.
The closeness of the live versus playback was scary." - Positive Feedback

"It sounds excellent, faithfully reproducing the timbre of the voice and the instruments that accompanied Lesley on "Summertime" before we arrived." - Stereophile

Super Tower III/SRE
"I don't know of any other speaker that gets you as close to the limits of what speakers can do for anything approaching the same price."
RM V60
"The sound was detailed and musical with pinpoint imaging. Wow! It is the best I have ever heard that CD and I have played it in many rooms with equipment costing substantially more."

RM40
"One of the best speakers in the world has just gotten better. This is a Component of Exceptional Merit."
RM30
"A speaker that can match the dynamic capabilities of competent horns, the immediacy of electrostatics and planar-magnetics, and the fine detailing and imaging of the best dynamic designs."

RM2
"Stunning dynamics and incredible bass response alone are enough to make me want them. They are at or near the top of this group in virtually every category of music and sound reproduction, and haven't a single glaring weak point."
QSO 626R
"I’ve owned more expensive speakers than the VMPS Signature Edition 626R monitors, but nothing has bettered them. They are now my reference for top-quality sound in a monitor design."

Subwoofers
"Beautiful tight articulate bass with no noticeable distortion. Will play at 115 dB or more at the 20Hz range without breaking a sweat."
Home Theatre
"About the LRC bass being powerful and extended, I was more than pleasantly surprised - shocked is more like it. How you do that?"

Small size and wide range of Neo ribbon midrange made it possible to build a smaller three way speaker than our acclaimed big SuperTower or FF models. Ribbon Monitors 2 and 1 were born. Next development, RM40 became the 2002 CES winner in high-end audio category only a few months after its introduction.

Every VMPS loudspeaker has controls for level adjustment of every driver (or group of drivers), other than bass. Every floorstander features tuneable slot-loaded passive radiator. Soundcoated cabinets are standard from RM2 upwards.

RM/X "Elixir", among many innovations, was the first VMPS to use new FST tweeter, later available in all models. Later addition in RM range is RM30, which in some instances can be considered as a compact version of RM/X. RM30 introduced new 16cm WCF Megawoofers, later optional on 626R.

In 2007, RM family is further extended with unique RM V60 loudspeaker. RM V60 + VLA subwoofers then represented top of the line system.

Previous top of the line Super Tower III/SRE used Raven R2 ribbon tweeter and Neo midrange drivers, nine per side.

There are five subwoofers. Biggest is the Very Large Array, following are Very Solid Sub and Larger Subwoofer, then 215 and Dedicated Subwoofer. Passive crossovers in subwoofers are optional. Every subwoofer features tuneable slot-loaded passive radiator.

VMPS Neo ribbon loudspeakers based home-theater setup can be completed with a Large Ribbon Center or RM30 C as center speakers, and Dipole Surround as rear or effect speakers.

In 2008 VMPS offered "SDE" versions of existing models. SDE stands for Special Digital Edition, meaning these speakers are prepared for operation with digital active crossovers and bi-amping which is a significant step forward in sound quality.

Last achievement - RM50 Dual Line Source Bipolar Array is a full-range speaker that can reproduce a big ensemble of players and singers in a large space for a substantial audience without strain or distortion.

You can upgrade most VMPS models with deluxe components and high quality finishes.

Crossovers in all our systems are executed at the high quality level, with Teflon silverplate
wiring
, Erse “Super Q” coils, and Axon and custom polypropylene capacitors. We can think of only one way to improve on these parts: superpremium capacitors from Audience (Auricap) and TRT, parts too expensive for use in many of the costliest high end competitors including, unbelievably, those retailing in the six figure range.

1. The Auricap upgrade gives you some of the most highly reviewed crossover capacitors available, providing a significant and audible improvement in the quality of the signal throughpath. There is a lot of literature available on the Audience website, including magazine and webzine articles. Suffice to say this is a highly recommended option for any of our ribbon speakers.

2. Some music lovers are not content with less than the very best, however, regardless of cost. To those demanding few we now offer the TRT Dynamicaps, “naked” (unwrapped) handmade caps which the factory hand-peeled to the exact value required for each of our models. While the Auricaps are very good, we feel the TRT’s go to another level. The TRT’s are not cheap, but they are very worthwhile.

3. New 16cm WCF Megawoofer for QSO 626R. This option is included with MLS cabinet option for 626. First appeared at RM30, brings overall better performance than regular 16cm WCF.

4. Completely new cabinets, called MLS are available for RM40, RM30, 626R and LRC. Gorgeous finishes, and even better construction with more mass and internal braces. Choice of genuine wood veneers include rosewood, african ebony, maple, walnut and piano black.

5. Constant Directivity WaveGuide upgrade for all loudspeakers. CDWG gives even off axis response for all VMPS loudspeakers which reflects as huge improvement in sound. From the outside CDWG looks exactly the same as regular grilles. As an upgrade, it is also required to upgrade existing passive radiator for those suited for operation with CDWG. Currently only available for RM40, for other models expected app. end of Jan. 2006. Click here for more on this unique VMPS technology.

6. Bolder silver wire from crossover point to bass driver on any loudspeaker or subwoofer. More clarity for bass range.

7. Soundcoat for 626R and subwoofers. Standard on RM2 and larger models. Soundcoat eliminates cabinet resonances for approximately 10 dB above 200Hz.

8. "SR-71" cabinet insulation upgrade (BlackHole 5 self-adhesive plates) for all loudspeakers and subwoofers. Even more effective reduction of cabinet resonances than Soundcoat.

9. Baskets of bass drivers and passive radiators at QSO 626R, RM2 and Subwoofers can be damped with Dynamat Extreme self-adhesive plates.

10. OXO and Supermax. OXO is outboard crossover placed in separate cabinet. Supermax version include all wiring in Bolder Silver wire.

11. Ambience Tweeter. This is an add-on tweeter usable with all of our speakers (except the RM50 and RM v60) that is freestanding and complete with crossover and user-adjustable level control. Click here for more info.
